Interatrial Septal Defect with Mitral Insufficiency of Congenital Origin

چکیده
Mortality due to uncomplicated congenital defects of the heart is comparatively infrequent. Cabot's analysis of 1,906 cardiac autopsies shows only seven cases of congenital defects, of which two were clinically recognized and in only one was the death solely due to the cardiac anomaly. Among the congenital cardiac disorders Muir and Brown (1934) consider that interventricular septal defects are the commonest. Varying grades of persistent foramen ovale appear also to be not infrequent. Seib (1934) observed patency of the foramen ovale in 17 per cent of all autopsies of his series. Roesler (1934) how-

Atrial Septal Defect in an Elderly Woman–a Case Report
RATIONALE The atrial septal defect is one of the most common congenital anomalies in adults, but it is rarely diagnosed. It is characterized by a defect in the interatrial septum that allows pulmonary venous return to pass from the left to the right atrium. OBJECTIVE A case of a 75-year-old female who presented with dyspnea, orthopnea, lower extremities swelling and palpitations is reported h...
متن کاملPacman Heart as a Congenital Cardiac Defect Associated with Flail Mitral Valve and a Partial form of Shone\'s Complex; A Case Report
Partial muscular inter-ventricular septal defect (VSD) or Pacman heart is a rare congenital or occasionally acquired anomaly. Concurrent Pacman heart and Shone's complex are extremely rare and have never been reported until now. We described a 37-year-old male patient with congenital Pacman heart, flail mitral valve (FMV), and a history of multiple congenital anomalies, including subvalvular ao...
متن کاملDouble-orifice mitral valve and an associated malformation: secundum atrial septal defect.
The authors report a case of double-orifice mitral valve (DOMV) which showed mitral stenosis and mild insufficiency. An associated anomaly was secundum atrial septal defect. DOMV is an unusual congenital heart defect. The occurrence of this anomaly with or without secundum atrial septal defect is very rare. More often it is associated with other congenital malformations arising from atrioventri...
متن کاملMitral Valve Disease Complicated by Left-to-right Shunt at Atrial Level.
THE association of mitral stenosis with atrial septal defect (Lutembacher's syndrome 1) is well known but, when strict criteria of definition are applied, it is rare. For example, six, one, and no cases, respectively, were found in series of 2,000,` 500,4 and 400) patients undergoing commissurotomy for mi-tral stenosis, and only two cases exist in the pathologic files of the Mayo Clinic." متن کامل[Persistent common atrioventricular canal].
T HIS PAPER was written first in 1960. At that time cases of the complete form of persistent common atrioventricular canal or endocardial cushion defect were regarded as consisting of an ostium primum defect of the atrial septum, a cleft in the anterior cusp of the mitral valve, a cleft in the septal cusp of the tricuspid valve, and an interventricular septal defect. Partial forms of the defect...
